S2 Ep 3: “As For Me & My House…”
Michelle and her husband Ed know a thing or two about building “home”. They love their children and grandchildren with the same passion that helped them pioneer the ministry they champion. Motivated by the love of Jesus, they bring a sense of family wherever God places them.
Hidden Problem…
Many of us in our communities would be surprised how many teens are having to face homelessness and they are often facing it alone. From the LC Valley Youth Resource Center web page:
Lewiston and Clarkston High Schools estimate 30 displaced teens are seeking a safe place to sleep each night in the LC Valley. Some of these children are staying with friends while others are couch surfing or putting themselves at risk in potentially dangerous situations.
Be a Part of the Solution…
The Village…
The Resource Center can only help youth up to 18 years of age. Yet at 18 years of age the world expects you to start being an adult. That is difficult for anyone yet especially daunting for a young adult without support. Many social services end at the age of 18. That is where the “Village Initiative” comes in. It is a transitional housing initiative to support young adults into their early 20s, teaching adulting skills, independence, and life tools.
