Fun Grandma Goes to the Classroom

We had the privilege of visiting a Kindergarten classroom. Susan read, “How to Babysit Your Grandma” and the kids loved hearing all the ways the main character “entertained” and “cared” for her Grandma. You could tell it reminded the kiddos of their Grandma(s) and all the ways they enjoyed them.

When then helped students write a letter to their grandmothers. We were so impressed on how thoughtful and well spoken these kindergartners were. (Regular listeners you might recognize Sue’s grand, Lexie who is Parker Sue’s mom and student teacher, in the photo on the left)

We then repeated the process in a 1st grade class. They so enjoyed the clever way Susan introduced the letter using her Bear with a pocket in the front. A student was able to take a letter out of his pocket to help us introduce that part of our presentation. We also brought our drums. We marveled at how Janet Bly was right - kids could just drum away and they made music. It is impossible for those drums to sound anything but soothing. Few instruments are like that!

The letters truly turned out cute and in true “Fun Grandma” style we brought a treat! (The kids loved us. Not sure how the teachers felt? It was classic. Just like grandparents we gave the treat and left!)
